About Us
House Plan Resource was established in 2010 as the pre-drawn house plan side of Jannis Vann's portfolio of designs.
Jannis established her business in 1982 as Custom Home Planning and incorporated as Jannis Vann & Associates in 1989. In 2009 Jannis restructured, separating her pre-drawn portfolio of plans from her custom design and remodeling business. She now designs under J. Vann, Residence Designer.
Jannis attended Georgia State College and Southern Institute of Technology before embarking on an apprenticeship with builders, architects and residential designers in the Southeast and Midwest. Over a ten-year period Jannis gained the training she needed to establish her own firm when she moved back to the Atlanta area in 1981.
Jannis, a native of Woodstock, GA, worked out of her home as a free lance drafter until she established her own business in March of 1982. Working with local builders as clients she built a portfolio of plans for resale. In 1987 her portfolio had grown and was recognized by national publishers who began publishing her work on a national scale. She has worked alone, while starting her business, with a staff of as many as eight and now enjoys working as a sole proprietor again.
